“…Aural or visual reminders to perform a given task at a particular time included: Voice recorders with a timer function (van den Broek, Downes, Johnson, Dayus, & Hilton, 2000; Yasuda et al, 2002); text messaging to mobile phones (Pijnenborg, Withaar, Evans, van den Bosch, & Brouwer, 2007), voice messages to phones (Leirer, Morrow, Tanke, & Pariante, 1991), reminder functions on a smartphone (Svoboda & Richards, 2009) or schedule software on a PC (Flannery, Butterbaugh, Rice, & Rice, 1997; Kim, Burke, Dowds, & George, 1999; Kim, Burke, Dowds, Boone, & Park, 2000) and PDA (Davies, Stock, & Wehmeyer, 2002; Ferguson, Myles, & Hagiwara, 2005; Giles & Shore, 1989; Gillette & Depompei, 2008; Inglis et al, 2003; Sablier, Stip, Franck, & Mobus Group, 2010).…”

“…More than 80% of the patients who completed the 16 week trial showed a significant improvement in carrying out everyday activities (such as self care, self medication, keeping appointments) when using the pager system, and this improvement was maintained when they were evaluated 7 weeks after returning the pager. It is noteworthy to mention that this research has been extended by Inglis et al (2002) who developed an interactive memory aid using PDA's with data transmission via the mobile phone network. Neuropage can thus also communicate with the carer's computer system who can thus remotely monitor the use and functionality of the PDA.…”

“…Stavros, Fotini, and Magda (2010) developed software to stimulate verbal, arithmetic, logic, spatial and memory functions. Inglis and colleagues (2003) developed a system for TBI, using a personal digital assistant to test the usability of the system. A context-aware system for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has also been developed (Du, Zhang, Musa, Mokhtari, & Zhou, 2008).…”

“…However, person-centred care is most prevalent, and is regarded by many caregivers as the most important approach to dementia care because it treats the person with dementia in terms of his or her relationships with others, especially with caregivers. Moreover, person-centred care is appropriate for applying the norm of human-centred design; several technologies have been developed and/or revised on the basis of human-centred design approaches (Astell et al., 2008; Gowans et al., 2004; Inglis et al., 2003; Orpwood et al., 2005; Schikhof & Mulder, 2008). Thus, this approach is followed in analysing AT.…”
