“…T The mid‐term S ymposium of Commission V (Close‐Range Sensing: Analysis and Applications) of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) was held in Dresden, Germany, from Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th September 2006. The three‐day meeting was attended by 250 participants from 29 countries, comprising 170 registered delegates, 50 exhibitors and 30 organisers; some of these had also attended the closely affiliated Commission III Symposium (Photogrammetric Computer Vision and Image Analysis) held in Bonn the previous week (Sargent and Smith‐Voysey, 2007). This Commission V Symposium, entitled ‘‘Image Engineering and Vision Metrology’’, was held in the Wechselbad Theatre, a 1920s building that acted as the local head office of the Communist party in former German Democratic Republic times, located a short walk from Dresden's striking city centre.…”
