“…The biotite grains range in size from ~5 to ~600 μm in diameter (Supplementary Data 6), nevertheless the measured (>64 μm) biotite Rb-Sr dates tends to form tight clusters (c. 1750 Ma) regardless of the grain size. To incorporate this observation into the model, we computed thermal trajectories simultaneously for diffusion domains of different sizes (i.e., 10, 50, 100, 200 μm in diameter), adopting diffusion kinetic parameters for biotite Rb-Sr of E a = 328.7 kJ mol −1 and D 0 = 0.001 cm 2 s −1 , with the rock cooling from above the Sr blocking temperature 40 . The maximum temperatures permissible for the observed biotite Rb-Sr age and diffusion domain size are modeled to be in excess of ~610 °C.…”

“…Subsequent c. 1775 Ma sinistral strike-slip shear zones transect the orogen 51 . Terminal Nagssugtoqidian fabrics dated by high-temperature chronometers (zircon and monazite U-Pb) yield c. 1770 Ma ages whereas amphibole 40 Ar/ 39 Ar ages of c. 1700-1740 Ma reflect cooling times during exhumation 52 . That the major NE-SW shear zone structures dipping to the northwest in the Akia Terrane have identical formation ages (as dated in this paper) to the late-stage uplift processes in the Nagssugtoqidian Orogen supports the interpretation that Proterozoic thrusts propagated southwards deep into the Archean North Atlantic Craton.…”

“…2). Главным замечанием к этим цифрам сторонников палепротерозойского возраста являлось то, что, как известно, Rb-Sr система является наименее устойчивой (по сравнению, например, с Sm-Nd) в связи с бóльшей мобильностью Rb и Sr при высокой температуре (> 600 ° C) или под воздействием флюидов (Faure, 1986;Levsky et al, 2009), поэтому эти результаты могли быть искажены метаморфическими процессами.…”

“…These results were verbally questioned by some researchers because of the mobility of Rb-Sr isotopes during metamorphism, particularly at metamorphic conditions exceeding 600°C (Faure 1986; Levsky et al 2009). Given limitations of the Rb-Sr method, the age of the LGB complex was determined using U-Pb dating of zircons from gneisses exposed at the Jaurioki river area (Figure 1).…”
