Abstract:The Arctic climate has warmed rapidly over recent decades with the combined effect of greenhouse gases and aerosols (IPCC, 2013). Sulfate is a major aerosol species offsetting the Arctic warming via scattering of solar radiation and modification of cloud microphysics (Tilgner et al., 2021;Yang et al., 2018). Quantifying the climatic effects of sulfate needs information on its sources, distribution, and formation pathways. Sulfate in the Arctic marine boundary layer (MBL) originates from sea salt, anthropogenic… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
