Isotope Fractionation of Plutonium in Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry. Direct Deposition and Resin Bead

Abstract: The plutonium isotope mixture "MIRF" (Melange Isotopique de Reference Frangais) with a 239 Pu/ 242 Pu ratio close to unity certified to within 5 χ 10~4, is measured in thermal ionization mass spectrometry by the method of direct deposition on a triple filament and by the resin bead technique. The isotopic fractionation was studied for these two methods and showed a "mini plateau" in both cases.
