Impact of Teachers’ Demographics on Total Quality Management Parameters—The Case of Primary Education

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the application of TQM in primary education (PE) by exploring teachers’ views and, more specifically, by examining the impact of their demographic data on their attitude towards TQM. A study was conducted among teachers in Greek public primary schools with the aim being to investigate their views on seven TQM parameters. The study used a structured questionnaire that was positively evaluated for validity and reliability. In total, 2088 completed questionnaires were collected, and non-parametric tests were employed. The results reveal statistically significant differences among groups of respondents based on gender, job–position, educational level, age, and years of experience in PE, as well as geographical location of the school. The study provides real-time empirical evidence of TQM in PE, enriching the existing literature, which lacks empirical and validated data from the PE level. The data revealed by the study indicate differences in perception of the TQM concept and its application among the participants, and their response should be further analysed to explore the reasons that generate them and, thus, facilitate the initiation of TQM practices within a PE school environment.

The impact and changes due to sudden internal or external occurrence are difficult scenarios faced by many business organizations. The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the nation’s economic, social, and technological progressions. The effects of the sudden, extreme changes and uncertainty toward the environment require business organizations to further adapt and change to improve their survivability. Dynamic leadership requires leaders to make sudden changes improving adaptability or marketing capabilities to stay resilient and relevant to the mass market. Thus, the goal of the present study was to investigate the influence of dynamic leadership and marketing planning on organizational resilience in the context of Malaysian Private Higher Learning Institutions (PHLI). In this paper, the study performed PLS-SEM on the data collected using purposive sampling of 224 respondents, consisting of managers from colleges and universities in urban areas of Malaysia. The SEM was used to test on the levels of relation and whether there was any mediation between the tested variables. The study revealed that the dynamic leadership and marketing planning of Private Higher Learning Institutions’ (PHLI) managers can improve organizational resilience. It highlighted the impact of leadership values has on improving overall market plans and affecting their resilience. Marketing planning should not be neglected as it is one of the crucial factors in achieving resiliency. The study’s results are timely as they provide information for users to improve their overall survivability. The value of marketing planning should not be lightly treated as it has a serious impact toward organizational resilience. It is an important element for organizations in the current state of where survivability is essential in an unpredictable environment.

This research aims to provide empirical evidence on the effects of external pressure and institutional leadership on the utilization of local government performance reports. The hypothesis is built based on institutional theory, especially isomorphism pressure using coercive pressure shown in external pressure and Giddens' structuration theory using the concept of institutional leadership which is thought to influence the process of organizing performance measurement, namely the use of local government performance reports. Data collection and processing was carried out by conducting surveys by handing out questionnaires directly to all Papua Province government work units. The sample of respondents is state civil servants who have a role in preparing performance reports in each agency. The data analysis method uses Partial Least Square (PLS). The results, quite surprisingly, show that the external pressure variable has a significant negative effect on the use of local government performance reports and institutional leadership does not have a significant effect on the use of local government performance reports. The discussion will be reviewed in depth by paying attention to the latest conditions in Papua to try to understand the results of this research.
