Isometric embeddings in trees and their use in the diameter problem

Abstract: A well-studied topic in Metric Graph Theory, as well as for more general metric spaces, is the existence of isometric embeddings in some product, distribution or system of trees. We initiate the study of a query-answering problem on a finite system of trees whose definition has been tailored for the fast resolution of distance and facility location problems on such "tree-like" spaces.
