Isolation Studies From Stem Extract of Pistacia Integerrima Stew. Ex Brand

Abstract: Plants have been source of fantastic natural compounds that range in complexity. Chemical studies on traditional medicinal plants have led to discovery of potent bioactive components. Pistacia integerrima belonging to family Anacardiaceae has been traditionally effective for rheumatic pain, analgesic and antipyretic effects and used in treatment of coughs, phthisis, asthma and dysentery. Natural products have served as basis for compounds to be utilized in drug discovery. Stem extract of Pistacia integerrima w… Show more

“…As more people become aware of the potency and the adverse effects of synthetic drugs, there is a growing interest in natural drugs with various chemical structures and bioactivity against many diseases (Boer, Lamxay, & Björk, ). The chemically diverse compounds in medicinal plants, in which complex structures have therapeutic potential, are hard to synthesize in the laboratory (Bibi, Qayyum, Nisa, Waheed, & Chaudhary, ).…”

“…Three fractions were drawn up through liquid-liquid extraction with n-hexane, chloroform, and ethyl acetate solvents. Doses of 100 and 300 mg/mL from the ethanolic extract and 30 and 100 mg/mL from the fractions (n-hexane, chloroform, and ethyl acetate) were prepared following steps (Figure 2) (16).…”
