Isolation of Sorbitol‐6‐Phosphate from Hydrogenated Tapioca Starch Hydrolysate

Abstract: Chemical characterization of hydrogenated tapioca starch hydrolystate (TSH) of 95±1% DE contained 0.2‐0.5% organic entity which was water‐soluble and acid‐resistant phosphate, later identified as sorbitol‐6‐phosphate from its response to (a) pentaacetyl derivative formation, (b) GC profiles and (c) tracing its origin to G‐6‐P from TSH.
