Isolation of protoplasts and ion channel recording of plasma membrane patches and whole-cell recordings of the marine alga, Ulva pertusa (Chlorophyta)

Abstract: Whole-cell patch-clamp techniques were used to study ion channels of a marine alga. High quality protoplasts suitable for electrophysiological studies were isolated from the green marine alga, Ulva pertusa, using enzyme mixtures consisting of cellulase and abalone power and identified by calcofluor fluorescence.
