“…B. cenocepacia is one of the most prevalent members of the Bcc in CF patients that can be transmitted from patient to patient through social contacts (Govan et al ., 1993) and cause cepacia syndrome, a nearly always fatal condition. Furthermore, B. cenocepacia has been found in association with maize roots (Bevivino et al ., 2011), in sewage (McNeely et al ., 2009), and as the causative agent of banana finger‐tip rot (Lee and Chan, 2007).
