“…Molecular masses of marker proteins (kilodaltons; kDa) are indicated on the left. 1421 &h of recoverin in the cells revealed no alternative splicing and no point mutations in the entire coding region (Murakami et al, 1992). This is in line with the above-mentioned animal model, in which the uveoretinitis could be experimentally induced by a purified wild-type form of recoverin.…”

“…This primer pair was designed to amplify the recoverin gene between exon 1 and exon 3 of the published human recoverin sequence (Murakami et al, 1992). The primers used for amplification from human recoverin sequence were 5'-TGT GTT CCG CAG CTT CGA TT-3'(sense) and 5'-TGA GGC TCA AAC TGG ATC AG-3'(antisense).…”

“…According to the reported sequences of the proteins shown, evolutionary distances of the sequences were calculated. The sequences used were those of visinin (13), S-modulin (7), bovine recoverin (5), human recoverin (43), and mouse recoverin (44). Bar indicates 10% replacement of an amino acid per site (k ϭ 0.1; see "Experimental Procedures").…”

“…
We have been using a differential cDNA cloning approach to isolate human retina-specific and retina-enriched genes [1]. A 1,314 bp cDNA was isolated by this approach, representing a highly retina-specific message encoding a 388 amino acid protein showing 58%, 50%, and 49% homology to bovine fl-arrestin, and bovine and human retinal arrestin (S-antigen), respectively.
