Isolation, characterization, and evaluation of Cassia fistula Linn. seed and pulp polymer for pharmaceutical application

Abstract: Introduction:Present work, is an effort toward exploring the potential of Cassia fistula Linn. seed gum as an extended release polymer and laxative. While, C. fistula pulp polymer has evaluated as suspending agent.Materials and Methods:For extended release application, total five batches (F1-F5) were prepared by varying the ratio of drug:polymer as 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, and 1:5, respectively. The granules were prepared by wet granulation method and further evaluated for micromeritic properties such as angle of r… Show more

“…The use of Cassia fistula as standardized formulations in the form of hand sanitizers and soaps has been widely used recently, and it needs further optimization for it to be used as a disinfectant and antiseptic. Apart from that, Cassia fistula seed gum has been used as a film coating material for drugs as well as for a variety of other pharmaceutical and bioengineering coating purposes [18]. The applicability of the Adhatoda vasica methanol extract in the preparation of medicinal liquid-based soaps, which demonstrated substantial antibacterial activity in liquid form compared to the dry extract type, has been well documented in previous studies [24].…”

“…Furthermore, they are used as standardized formulations in hand sanitizers and soaps, and they need further optimization for them to be used as disinfectant and antiseptics. Apart from that, Cassia fistula seed gum is used as a film coating material in different dosage forms for a variety of purposes [18]. Traditionally, the medicinal plant of the genus Moringa has been used to cure wounds and diseases such as common cold and diabetes.…”

“…The obtained precipitate was washed sequentially with ethanol, diethyl ether and petroleum ether followed by drying at 40-45 °C. The final product was sifted through sieve number 120 and desiccated till further use [6][7][8]. Analytical techniques like FT-IR and NMR were employed to characterize the gum.…”

“…[234] Zinc chloride has the other applications includes protein precipitation, various insulin, and pharmaceutical preparations. [3456] It is the source of supplement for zinc to the animal body helpful for recovery from the deficiency syndromes (i.e., parakeratosis, hypogeusia, anorexia, dysosmia, geophagia, hypogonadism, growth retardation, and hepatosplenomegaly) and maintains the healthy quality of life. [27] In human, zinc resides in almost all the body parts, organs, or tissues (i.e., muscle, retina, prostate, bone, skin, kidney, liver, pancreas, red blood cells, and white blood cells) and plays important roles in several biological processes.…”

“…[2345612] Unfortunately, it scarce comprehensive, reliable, and accurate in-depth analytical information all together for the physicochemical, thermal, and spectroscopic characterization. However, to our knowledge, the structural characterization of zinc chloride using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), particle size distribution (PSD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermogravimetric analysis (DTG), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis) spectroscopy, and Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry techniques have not yet been reported in details in any literature/book for the better understanding of its chemical structure.…”
