Isolation and properties of calmodulin from Dictyostelium discoideum

Abstract: A calcium-dependent regulatory protein (calmodulin) was purified from vegetative amoebae of Dictyostelium discoideum. The properties of Dictyostelium calmodulin are similar but not identical to those of bovine brain calmodulin. Calmodulin activity was not detected in extracts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae or Escherichia coli.
