“…The pathological lesions observed in the infected fish, including hemorrhages and focal necrosis in the liver, spleen, and kidney, were similar to those reported in farmed Japanese flounder snakehead fish (Channa striata) [36,[44][45][46][47]. In situ hybridization showed that CAPRV2023 was distributed in different tissues, with a higher positive signal intensity in the spleen, liver, and muscle tissues of golden pompano, which was different from that of VHSV in juvenile herring.…”

“…The samples were then dehydrated in 70%–100% alcohol, placed twice in xylene (10 min each), and embedded in paraffin (56°C melting point). The parts were sliced transversely into 4‐μm‐thick sections using a microtome (Thermo Shandon, UK) and stained with haematoxylin and eosin (John et al, 2021). Then the stained slides were analysed and photographed by Nikon microscope (Nikon, Japan) installed with a digital camera.…”

“…Recently, isolation of a snakehead fish vesiculovirus (SHVV) was reported from hybrid catfish in China [85]. First report of emergence of a rhabdovirus (SHRV In) in India was from an infected snakehead that were undergoing mortality in the extensive type aquaculture tanks in the rural areas of South India that had behavioral abnormalities and surface ulcerations (Figure 14) [86]. Experimental infection with SHRV-In exhibited clinical signs of listlessness, uncoordinated spiral swimming, anorexia, lethargy, loss of scales, discoloration, small pale white patches on the body, hemorrhagic areas, and surface ulcers in juvenile snakeheads.…”
