“…In one series by Weimann et al only four iliac artery aneurysms were true internal iliac artery aneurysms out of 30 cases. 5 In the series of Giordanengo et al three of six cases were isolated internal iliac artery aneurysms. 8 Our patient did not have either a common or external iliac artery aneurysm, but the common iliac artery was slightly dilated.…”

“…3,5 The natural course of isolated internal iliac artery aneurysms is progressive expansion and rupture, therefore in selected cases the endovascular technique, which is a good alternative to traditional surgical treatment, is recommended. 6 Surgical treatment includes a transection of the aneurysm, a ligation of the patent arterial branches, and a restoration of circulation.…”

“…İnternal iliyak arter anevrizmalarında ise proksimal ve distal ligasyon, anevrizmektomi ile beraber greft interpozisyonu ya da endoanevrizmorafi uygulanmaktadır. [16] Cerrahi işlemlerin teknik başarısı oldukça yüz güldürücü olmasına rağmen komplikasyonları da hayli fazladır. Bunlar arasında kanama, enfeksiyon, üreter yaralanması, distal embolizasyon ve alt ekstremitede iskemi sayılabilir.…”

“…4 The rupture rate of iliac aneurysms is thought to be higher than that of AAAs with more than 30% presenting with rupture.5-8 The risk of rupture is reported to be between 14-75%5 and is increased in aneurysms measuring more than 3 cm; therefore, elective repair is recommended for these lesions.3,6,8 9 The mortality rate rises up to 50% in cases presenting with rupture versus 7-11% in those having elective repair. [3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Clinical presentations of isolated IAAs include abdominal pain, gastrointestinal complaints, genitourinary complaints, nerve compression, and conditions related to arteriovenous fistula formation (congestive heart failure, lower extremity edema), as well as signs of hypovolemia when they present with rupture. Owing to the widespread use of CT, ultrasonography (US), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), increasingly numbers of patients with IAAs are diagnosed in an asymptomatic stage.…”
