Isobaric Vapor–Liquid Equilibrium for Binary and Ternary Systems of 2-Methoxyethanol, Ethylbenzene, and Dimethyl Sulfoxide at 100.00 kPa

Abstract: The isobaric vapor−liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the binary systems 2-methoxyethanol + ethylbenzene, ethylbenzene + dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and 2-methoxyethanol + DMSO and the ternary system 2-methoxyethanol + ethylbenzene + DMSO were measured with a Fischer VLE 602 apparatus at 100.00 kPa. The VLE data for all the binary and ternary systems were thermodynamically consistent and passed the Wisniak's L−W test. The binary VLE data were correlated with the Wilson, nonrandom two-liquid, and universal quasic… Show more

“…Extractive distillation is an effective separation technique for the pressure-insensitive azeotropic mixture. , Here, we determined the VLE data for the ethyl acetate + methylcyclohexane system in the presence of decane to evaluate the feasibility to separate them by the extractive distillation process. The isobaric VLE data are presented in Table and shown graphically in Figures and S15.…”

“…To ensure the reasonability of the experimental data, the thermodynamic consistency was checked by Wisniak’s L – W test, which can be described with the following equations where T i ° , Δ h i ° , and Δ s i ° are the boiling point, enthalpy of vaporization, and entropy of vaporization of pure component i at different pressures, respectively. The values of Δ h i ° for component i are taken from Aspen Plus V8.4 physical property databanks.…”
