İş Yaşamında Cinsiyet Ayrımcılığı: Kadın Aşçılar Örneği (Sex Discrimination in Professional Life: Example of Female Cooks)

Birçok sektörde olduğu gibi turizm sektöründe de kadınlar kalıplaşmış önyargılarla sektörden uzaklaştırılmışlardır. Planlanan bu çalışma ile kadınların çalışma hayatında yaşadıkları ayrımcılıklar ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, turizm işletmelerinde çalışan kadın aşçıların yaşadığı temel sorunların belirlenmesi ve çözüm önerilerinin getirilmesidir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Ankara'da çeşitli işletmelerde çalışan Türkiye Aşçılar Federasyonuna (TAFED) üye olan kadın aşçılara anket uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS istatistik programında frekans, ortalama ve yüzde dağılımları hesaplanmış, demografik özellikleri ile yaşamış oldukları sorunların belirlenmesi amacıyla X 2 analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, sektörde kadın aşçılara yönelik önyargıların olduğunu göstermiştir. Kadın aşçıların çoğu işe alımlarda ayrımcılık yapıldığını, yeteneklerine göre daha düşük işlerde çalıştırıldıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. The women are moved away from the professional life due to common prejudices in tourism sector, as in many other sectors. This study deals with the discriminations, which the women face in professional life. The purpose of this study is to determine the basic problems, which the cook women face at tourism enterprises, and to propose solutions to such problems. In this respect surveys have been made on cook women, who are registered members of Cook and Chefs Federation of Turkey and are working at various enterprises in Ankara. The findings of the survey were analyzed with SPSS statistical program; and the frequency, averages and percentage distributions have been measured; and X 2 analysis was made in order to determine the demographical characteristics and faced problems. The findings of the study displayed that there is prejudice against the cook women in the sector. Most of the cook women stated that they have been facing discrimination during employment and that they are employed in professions lower than their capacities.

Gender inequality in the culinary profession in tourism from the perspective of university students with working experiences in culinary
