Is there a relationship between ethylene production of bananas ripened on the plant and the length of the fruit growth period prior to ripening onset?

Abstract: --Introduction. A recent laboratory study demonstrated a negative correlation between the ethylene production of fruit during ripening and the length of their commercial life. The aim of our work was to determine whether there is a putative relationship between ethylene production of fruit during ripening and the length of the growth period before ripening.
