Is It Possible To Prepare a Heterometal Anderson–Evans Type Anion?

Abstract: Reaction of [SbW9O33]9– with [Pt(H2O)2(OH)4] results in the first example of the mixed addenda Anderson–Evans type PtIV{SbV(OH)2}WVI 5O22]7– anion, isolated and characterized as K6Na2[Pt{Sb(OH)2}W5O22](NO3)0.1(OH)0.9̇11H2O (1).

“…11,12 These POMs can be altered in various ways, including changing the central heteroatom, adding inorganic and/or organic cations to create coordination or supramolecular structures, or covalent coupling with organic moieties to produce functional hybrids. 13–15 Hence, they are the most flexible nanoclusters in POM chemistry.…”

“…Research interest in the noble metal-containing polyoxometalates , has been steadily expanding within the last decade, prompted by high expectations put on catalytic activity of such hybrid POMs. This field is currently dominated by platinum and ruthenium containing complexes. The polyoxopalladates, discovered and developed by the Kortz group, are also in focus. Recently, Na 5 [H 3 Pt IV W 6 O 24 ] and Na 3 K 5 [Pt 2 II (W 5 O 18 ) 2 ] were reported to have high hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance, and in situ XAS experiments and DFT calculations suggest the Pt–O bond to be the active site .…”

“…Recently, [Pt(H 2 O) 2 (OH) 4 ] has been introduced as an easily accessible Pt(IV) source. , In this work, we used it in a hydrothermal reaction with a Li + /NH 4 + salt of {P 8 W 48 } (all synthetic details and additional characterization (Figures S1–S10) of the reaction product are given in the Supporting Information). The orange crystalline product K 22 (NH 4 ) 9 H 3 [{Pt(OH) 3 (H 2 O)} 6 P 8 W 48 O 184 ]·79H 2 O was isolated by addition of KNO 3 and recrystallized as red–orange polyhedral crystals, which were studied with XRD and XRPD techniques (see the Supporting Information for details).…”

“…This method is beneficial to the design and synthesis of accurate molecular structures and makes POM derivatives diverse . Anderson-type POMs are a kind of classic structure and can be grafted tris (trihydroxyl organic compounds) to obtain functional derivatives, which allow them to have good application prospects in many aspects. For example, Wei’s group has done a lot of research on Anderson structural oxidation-catalyzed organic small molecules, and Rompel’s group has made a great contribution to the biological applications of Anderson-type POMs .…”
