Purpose The goal of this study was to explore the outcomes of unilateral and bilateral approach percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) using CT-guidance in the treatment of severe osteoporotic single-level vertebral biconcave-shaped fracture. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 89 patients with severe osteoporotic single-level vertebral biconcave-shaped fracture who had undergone unilateral and bilateral PKP surgeries using CT-guidance at our hospital between June 2013 and June 2019, and followed for at least 1 year. All patients were divided into unilateral (the transverse process-pedicle approach, n = 49) and bilateral (the pedicle approach, n = 40) groups. We collected the clinical and radiological evaluation results during postoperative and last follow-up periods. Results Our findings revealed that the surgery time for the unilateral group was significantly shorter than that of the bilateral group at P < 0.05. The amount of bone cement and radiation exposure of the unilateral group were significantly lesser than that of the bilateral group ( P < 0.05). Relative to preoperative data, the values of the VAS score and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were significantly improved at 1 day after surgery and the last follow-up in the two groups ( P < 0.05). Notably, the median height of vertebra at 1 day after surgery and the last follow-up in the unilateral group was significantly restored than that of preoperative data ( P < 0.05). However, the median height of vertebra at the same time intervals in the bilateral group showed no significant change compared with preoperative data ( P > 0.05). Furthermore, the rate of bone cement leakage and incidence of adjacent-level vertebra fracture were not significantly different in the two groups (P > 0.05). Finally, both groups can obtain an asymmetrical distribution of bone cement in the vertebra. Conclusion Compared to the bilateral PKP, unilateral PKP using CT-guidance in the treatment of the sOVBFs exhibits significantly shorter operation time, lesser radiation dose, and complications. Moreover, unilateral PKP can restore the median height of the vertebral body and eventually obtain a symmetrical distribution of bone cement in the vertebra.

Background: To determine the influence of lateral decubitus position on cement distribution of unilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF).Methods: A retrospective review was performed on patients who underwent PKP for OVCF at the Spine Department of our hospital between January 2016 and January 2020. Unilateral PKP were performed by the same senior spinal surgeon team under local anesthesia. Patients were divided into two group according to positions with injecting cement. Complete symptom and radiographic evaluation information were gathered from each patient since the initial presentation. Then, the radiographic and symptomatic indexes between two groups were compared.Results: There were 190 patients included in this study. Ninety-four patients used to receive cement injection in lateral decubitus position while 96 patients were in prone position. A significantly longer surgical time (28.7±4.5 min vs. 26.8±4.3min) and more cement volume (6.14±0.66ml vs. 5.69±0.69ml) were found in lateral decubitus group. And visual analogue scale (VAS) scores were significantly lower (p <0.05) in lateral decubitus group one week after surgery. Compared with prone group, lateral decubitus group showed a significantly higher proportion of grade III cement distribution (18.2% vs. 7.3%, p<0.05) and a significantly lower cement leakage rate (13.8% vs. 26%, p<0.05).Conclusion: It is possible that lateral decubitus position can improve cement distribution, relieve acute pain more and decrease leakage incidence in OVCF patients with unilateral PKP，although it might be slightly time-consuming. It was recommended that position could be switched to lateral decubitus position during cement injection for unilateral PKP, especially when extraversion angle was small.

Traffic congestion is a thorny issue to many large and medium-sized cities, posing a serious threat to sustainable urban development. Recently, intelligent traffic system (ITS) has emerged as an effective tool to mitigate urban congestion. The key to the ITS lies in the accurate forecast of traffic flow. However, the existing forecast methods of traffic flow cannot adapt to the stochasticity and sheer length of traffic flow time series. To solve the problem, this paper relies on deep learning (DL) to forecast traffic flow through time series analysis. The authors developed a traffic flow forecast model based on the long shortterm memory (LSTM) network. The proposed model was compared with two classic forecast models, namely, the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and the backpropagation neural network (BPNN) model, through long-term traffic flow forecast experiments, using an actual traffic flow time series from OpenITS. The experimental results show that the proposed LSTM network outperformed the classic models in prediction accuracy. Our research discloses the dynamic evolution law of traffic flow, and facilitates the decision-making of traffic management.
