Is it meaningful to add mesh reinforcement to laparoscopic fundoplication for esophageal hiatal hernias?

Abstract: Background: While laparoscopic fundoplication is a standard surgical procedure for patients with esophageal hiatal hernias, the postoperative recurrence of esophageal hiatal hernias is a problem for patients with giant hernias, elderly patients, or obese patients.
