Is breastfeeding safe in patients with a history of cocaine use during pregnancy?

Abstract: You are seeing a 24-year-old gravida 2 para 2 who is postpartum day 1 after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery at term. She has a remote history of cocaine use in early pregnancy but has abstained since establishing with prenatal care at approximately 22 weeks' estimated gestational age. She has concerns regarding the safety of breastfeeding going forward and asks your advice. A urine drug screen at time of admission was negative.
