Abstract: Iron deficiency is a common and independent predictor of adverse outcomes in patients with heart failure. The implications of iron deficiency in patients implanted with a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) are less established. This review recaps data on the prevalence, characteristics and impact of Iron deficiency in the LVAD population.
