Iron-Carbon Core-Shell Nanoparticles Obtained with Different Conditions of Synthesis

Abstract: Core–shell Fe2O3@C nanoparticles are very studied due to its biocompatibility with plant and animals cells and due its special properties of chemical adsorption. Thus, the definition of an easy synthesis method of these nanoparticles is very important to the scientific studies and to future applications of these materials. For example, the properties of these nanoparticles depend of the combination between some processing parameters, as the temperature, time, chemical composition, atmosphere and others. The ma… Show more

“…The magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized by the hydrothermal co-precipitation method, according Lima et al 25 . A mass of 11.26 g of glucose (97.5% purity; C 6 H 12 O 6 ; Merck), 37.54 g de urea (99% purity; CH 4 N 2 O; Vetec) and 15.15 g of iron (III) nitrate (99% purity; Fe(NO 3 ) 3 •9H 2 O; Merck) were dispersed in 250 mL of distilled water.…”

“…Core-shell nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 @C) were obtained using the methodology applied by Lima et al 30 . In 250 mL of distilled water was added 11.26 g of glucose (97.5% purity -C 6 H 12 O 6 -Merck), 37.54 g of urea (99% purity -CH 4 N 2 O -Vetec) and 15.15 g of iron (III) nitrate (99% purity -Fe(NO 3 ) 3 •9H 2 O -Merck).…”
