IRCM‐Caps: An X‐ray image detection method for COVID‐19

Abstract: Objective COVID‐19 is ravaging the world, but traditional reverse transcription‐polymerase reaction (RT‐PCR) tests are time‐consuming and have a high false‐negative rate and lack of medical equipment. Therefore, lung imaging screening methods are proposed to diagnose COVID‐19 due to its fast test speed. Currently, the commonly used convolutional neural network (CNN) model requires a large number of datasets, and the accuracy of the basic capsule network for multiple classification is limital. For this reason, … Show more

“…Histogram equalization has been explored as a technique for contrast enhancement in chest radiography studies; however, most of this work has focused on specific conditions, with the vast majority in COVID-19. 19 , 20 However, its use in a generalized rather than focused task helps researchers better understand the potential applications of contrast enhancement.…”

“…Qiu et al 20 classified COVID-19 data by integrating advanced Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures such as VGG16, Inceptionv3, XCeption, ResNet50, and the capsule network. They applied the CLAHE algorithm for contrast enhancement to the images before the classification process.…”
