Ipf Based Novel Scheduler for Remote Radio Head in Lte-a Networks

Abstract

The most complex node in LTE-A is the base station referred to as eNodeB. eNodeB consists of two major elements Remote Radio Head (RRH) which consists of antennas and the Base Band Unit (BBU) which comprises of digital modules that processes all signals transmitted and received over the air interface and acts as the interface to the core network over a high-speed backhaul connection. The Remote Radio Head transforms the digital base-band signals of Base Band Unit into RF signals and improves power to transmit to the UE by means of protocol-specific processing. There is forever need for efficient and adaptive algorithm which can handle the load of peak time as well as non-peak time. An efficient scheduling algorithm to adjust and manage these network changes without degrading network performance and network quality is required at the Remote Radio Head which also remains the least explored component of eNodeB. Novel Improved Proportional Fair (iPF) Algorithm based approach has been proposed in this study made LTE based networks more efficient and fast in terms of parameters such as Peak Throughput, Average Throughput, Edge UE Throughput, Average Cell Throughput, Average UE Throughput, Spectral Efficiency, Fairness Index and RI Distribution.
