Coal is one of the most important non-renewable resource which contributes to majority of power production and used in many industries. The study here presents an innovative, efficient method needed to increase the mining productivity and reduce costs while also considering worker safety. In underground mining, many parameters such as toxic gases released, temperature, air pressure, humidity and fire must be controlled. The proposed system makes use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the coal mining environment to build an effective safety system. The system consists of a network of sensors that are used in different places of the mining environment to collect real time data. Arduino senses its environment by processing feedback from a variety of sensors. The results demonstrate that the real time data collected can be used to detect changes in the environment and raise an alarm or message to the end user to avoid disasters.

With the ever-growing application of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN)-based Internet of Things (IoT), it has gained enormous attention in the public and research domains. The energy constraint of WSN limits its applicability. In the paper, we have proposed a hybrid of Grey Wolf Optimisation along with Fuzzy Logic (FL) for energy-efficient Cluster Head (CH) selection, cluster formation, and cost-effective routing which improves Quality of Service (QoS) that can enhance the applicability of WSN in the diverse domains of IoT. The proposed work is simulated, and performance assessment is done on the basis of QoS metrics namely FND, HND, throughput, average energy, average node load and latency. The obtained results exhibit significant enhancement in the network lifetime with an enhanced stability period, higher throughput, reduced latency, and lessen traffic load and load-balanced network towards its comparative making it suitable for wide applicability in WSN based IoT.

Gas leakages result in serious problems in households and other areas where household gas is used. We are using many household appliances frequently but we are not servicing all of it, we are servicing only our luxurious and costly items in regular intervals, we are not taking care of essential appliances. Gas stove is one of it, using for a long period of time in kitchen the spills of oils and water fall over the cylinder tube, they become rust and cause hole in it through which gas gets leak and can cause a fire accident. The aim of this paper is to monitor and detect the gas leakage. The sensor is fixed in the cylinder used to detect gas leakage. During working in the kitchen if the gas leakage is sensed the lcd monitor displays a alert message and gives an alarm alert. If the gas leakage is found during the absence of peoples in home, sensor sense the leakage and sends the alert message to the user mobile through an application. The status of gas leakage is fed into the controller, using wi-fi connection the wi-fi module sends the alert message to the cloud and it is redirected to the application over the internet.
