IoT-Based Indoor and Outdoor Self-Quarantine System for COVID-19 Patients

Abstract: Even after two years since the declaration of the new virus Coronavirus Disease 19 , the reported cases are still considerably high in many countries, including Malaysia. The health authorities cannot monitor the health condition and track the location of every homemonitored patient at once due to many confirmed cases in a day. In order to overcome the shortage of manpower, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based self-quarantine system with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Global Positioning System (GPS) tr… Show more

“…It is used to display to share the location of bus to the nearby hospitals and fire-services through the control room (52). GPS tracking was proposed to monitor the health conditions of the Covid-19 patients and track their real-time location via mobile application (53). Whereas, information on symptom onset and exposure history of the patients was collected by global positioning system (GPS) tracking to investigate possible points of contact or spread of COVID-19 (54).…”

“…Other than that, the influence of Covid-19 on construction activities has resulted in the practice of remote working to limit the spread of disease. According to (Chin et al, 2022;Fabiani et al, 2021), the most effective policy to address the well-known need for worker distancing is to perform remote work. This makes the monitoring of Jaibot even harder compared to pre-pandemic times, where robots and equipment could be accessed by workers physically.…”

“…Besides that, the IoT monitoring system offers numerous benefits, such as continuous tracking of an individual's health without frequent healthcare facility visits. This enables early detection of changes or abnormalities, ensuring appropriate care for patients, especially in underserved or isolated areas (Bharathi et al, 2022;Chin et al, 2022). The system provides valuable data, such as the health conditions of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 patients (Abdullah et al, 2022), for healthcare professionals to make informed treatment decisions and is particularly useful for seniors with multiple health issues or medications.…”

“…The system provides valuable data, such as the health conditions of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 patients (Abdullah et al, 2022), for healthcare professionals to make informed treatment decisions and is particularly useful for seniors with multiple health issues or medications. This work has been extended by introducing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking for the patients who were under quarantine (Chin et al, 2022). Nevertheless, there are researchers who have constructed IoT-based wearable devices for health monitoring purposes (Cheng et al, 2020;Taştan, 2018).…”
