Ion selective electrodes in environmental analysis

Abstract: An overview is given dealing with the application of ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) in environmental analysis. ISEs are placed into the context of the trend of development of sensors for extensive and frequent monitoring. Discussed are the issues such as sensing platforms and their mass-production, improvement of precision, diagnostic of sensor functionality, and development of reference electrodes. Several examples of real-life application of ISEs in environmental analysis are given. The main emphasis of thi… Show more

“…An identical procedure as that for the synthesis of 1propargyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was used with the following proportions of starting materials: 1-butyl imidazole (2.25 g, 0.018 mol) was reacted with propargyl chloride (1.5 g, 0.02 mol). 3…”

“…Since the discovery of graphite paste electrodes for electroanalytical applications by Adam, they have attracted much attention due to their advantages such as ease of preparation, stable response, and loss of internal electrolyte (Svancara, Kalcher, Walcarius, & Vytras, 2012;Bobacka, Ivaska, & Lewenstam, 2008;Radu et al, 2013). Development of all-solid-state ion-selective electrodes for determination of environmental important ions is of great interest in many application fields (Wang, Chou, & Liu, 2003;Abramova, Moral-Vico, Soley, Ocana, & Bratov, 2016;Enseleit et al, 2018;Yin, Li, & Qin, 2017;Bomar, Owens, & Murray, 2017;Wardek, 2014).…”

“…Ion selective electrodes (ISEs) are an alternative chemical sensor to detect the analytes which are easy to manufacture, show excellent sensitivity and selectivity, and ability to connect to simple communication devices [ 8 , 9 , 10 ]. ISEs are have been widely used in many fields (most significantly in clinical analysis, although applications in agriculture, food processing, and pollution monitoring are relevant too).…”
