Ion optics of mass spectrometers IIA. Normal incidence on magnetic fields

Abstract

Ion-optical properties, including magnification, dispersion, aberrations and resolution, of homogeneous magnetic sector fields have been re-examined for the case of a beam incident normally on the field boundary. The calculations have been presented in graphical form with a view to being readily useful to the designer.
