The paper introduces a methodological approach for a Deliberative Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (DSM-CE) able to support cultural enhancement, combining deliberative multi-criteria evaluation methods and Geographic Information System (GIS). The purpose concerns the cultural regeneration issue in an interdisciplinary complex decisional context where an interactive decisionmaking process among the different stakeholders is oriented to the identification of shared cultural values. The decision-making process has been elaborated for the historic centre of Naples (Italy), in order to activate a culture-led regeneration process and to recognise in the culture the ability to influence site-specific planning actions.

In the last decades, the emergence of new social, environmental, and economic demands, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has led urban planning to innovate its themes, methods, and approaches. In this context, temporary urbanism has emerged as a mainstream approach. How-ever, the impacts of temporary approaches to urban planning are far from being fully understood. In this light, this study focuses on one of the mainstream approaches to temporary urbanism, tactical urbanism, and tries to understand its economic impacts on contemporary cities. Indeed, despite the growing interest in tactical urbanism interventions and their value as an urban regeneration tool, there are no specific reflections focused on investigating their economic effects. Based on these premises, this paper focuses on different tactical urbanism experiences in the Italian context and tries to assess the economic impacts of tactical urbanism interventions by adopting the lens of real estate values as a suitable proxy when dealing with urban environments. The first obtained results show that the experiences of tactical urbanism, partly because of their temporary nature and their tendency toward minimal intervention, fail to trigger regeneration processes or produce significant economic impacts on the territory. Instead, such experiences can play a role in accelerating or consolidating urban regeneration processes already underway, and, in this sense, they contribute to the generation of economic impact on the territory.

The rapid increase in world population in the 21st century, with associated transport and environmental problems, has encouraged the development of urban underground spaces as an optimal solution in many occasions, including urban renewal schemes. This paper reviews literature on the utilisation of urban underground space for urban renewal to provide a better understanding of how urban underground space can contribute to urban renewal, and of challenges and successes in achieving the goals. The paper concludes that urban underground space present new development opportunities (e.g. land/space supply, less traffic congestion, compact city development, and urban sustainable development) in regeneration of existing urban land. Urban underground spaces, as valuable resources and efficient and effective tools for urban renewal, should be considered by decision-makers for transforming existing urban areas, stimulating vibrant and denser development and mixed land use.
