“…In our previous study, we reported that cordycepin inhibited MMP-1 and -3 expression by suppressing AP-1 activation through MAPK signaling pathway in rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts (32). Also, we have confirmed that TPA-induced MMP-9 expression was significantly inhibited by the selective inhibitor of ERK1/2 (PD98059) or JNK (SP600125) and partly inhibited by selective inhibitors of the p38 MAPK (SB203580) (data not shown), and previous studies support our data (30,33,34). These findings suggest that cordycepin inhibits TPA-stimulated MMP-9 expression by suppressing MAPK activation.…”

“…Compound (11) was obtained in 47% yield from intermediate (7) by refluxing with chloro-propylamine in cyclopentyl-methyl ether as the solvent. Finally, compounds (9) and (10) were reacted with an excess of aqueous LiOH, while compound (11) was reacted with aqueous NaOH to produce the corresponding salts.…”

“…The action of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signalling cascade is one of the earliest events following ligand-receptor binding [5][6][7][8] . Through the activation of diverse signalling pathways, including MAPK, the integrins also regulate a variety of biological processes, including cell differentiation, wound-healing, and apoptosis [9][10][11][12] . The integrin receptors play an important role in cell-cell signalling by mediating interactions between cells and, attachment of cells to the extracellular matrix, thus, helping to define the cellular shape, cell motility regulation, and modulation of cell cycle progressions [13][14][15][16] .…”

“…While the focus in earlier reports was on the interaction of white blood cells to a vessel wall (Schmid-Schoenbein et al 1975), recent studies apply fluid shear to unravel signal transduction pathways in endothelial cells (Sun et al 2007). It has been postulated that fluid shear might also regulate bone cell mechanics (Piekarski and Munro 1977;Cowin et al 1991).…”
