“…We use the parameter D/H (test diameter against test height) for characterize the new species. The genus Rotorbinella, with the Cenomanian species R. mesogeensis (Tronchetti) appeared in the fossil record probably in the late Albian (Consorti et al, 2014, Hottinger, 2014. Diagnosis: medium-sized, high trochospiral shell.…”

“…Paleogeographically, in addition to the countries listed by CONSORTI et al (2014) with, from East to West: Iran, Hungary, Austria, France, Spain, and Portugal, the new Texan record of Involutina hungarica represents its westernmost Tethysian find. The Qatari occurrence based on "Trocholina lenticularis HENSON, 1947" was excluded from the list by these authors (CONSORTI et al, 2014) who quite rightly consider that it is a discrete taxon (see BRÖNNIMANN & KOEHN-ZANINET-TI, 1969;SCHLAGINTWEIT & PILLER, 1990;SCHLAGINT-WEIT et al, 2015). To our knowledge, there is only one more record of "Trocholina lenticularis HENSON" outside Qatar, i.e., from lower Cenomanian strata in Portugal (BERTHOU, 1973: Pl.…”

“…The younger specimens, those from the Hawar Formation, are slightly ornamented and could be referred to Involutina hungarica (SIDÓ, 1952). Accordingly, except for the possibly poorly age-constrained original find of SIDÓ (1952) in Hungary according to CONSORTI et al (2014), it could be the earliest occurrence of the species. In contrast the older specimens, those from the Lekhwair Formation, lack ornamentation and thus could be referred to a discrete species of Involutinidae: cf.…”

“…Arnaud-Vanneau et al (1988) and Schlagintweit and Piller (1990) demonstrated that the original description of Trocholina lenticularis Henson (an asymmetric trochospiral form), differs from that used by Moullade and Peybernès (1974) to define the genus Hensonina (a symmetric planispiral form, synonymous with Involutina hungarica (Sido)). Hensonina lenticularis is thus a nomen nudem, and taxa described as such should probably be referred either to T. lenticularis or to I. hungarica (Consorti et al, 2014). The specimens illustrated by Özkan and Altıner (2019) as "Hensonina lenticularis" are poorly preserved, and difficult to identify with any confidence, but appear to conform better with T. lenticularis sensu Henson (1947) and Arnaud-Vanneau et al (1988).…”
