Abstract:Linearly-fused aromatic hydrocarbons have remarkable electronic properties that change substantially as the length of the fused ring chain is increased. Unfortunately, this increased length brings with it worsened solubility and dramatically decreased environmental stability. A number of strategies have been explored to combat these issues. In the case of simple functionalization, the decrease in stability and solubility upon increased chromophore length can be mitigated slightly, but as the materials grow bey… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
