Abstract:The use of alkali metal electrodes is widely considered to be an enabler for the next generation of high energy-density rechargeable batteries [1]. In all-solid-state systems, the most critical interface appears to be that between the alkali metal and the solid electrolyte, from which metal-filled cracks can initiate and grow into single-crystal, polycrystal, and glassy electrolytes alike [2] under sufficiently high electrochemical stress. However, failure can be mitigated by softening of the metal electrode, … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
