Investigations on Interface Shear Fatigue of Semi-Precast Slabs with Lattice Girders

Abstract: Due to their high cost efficiency and flexibility, semi-precast concrete slabs with lattice girders are widely used in constructions all over the world. Prefabricated concrete slabs, combined with in situ concrete topping, exhibit a quasi-monolithic structural behavior in which lattice girders serve as vertical shear reinforcement and ensure the transfer of longitudinal shear within the interface, acting in combination with concrete-to-concrete bonding mechanisms. To be applicable in industrial and bridge cons… Show more

“…The positive influence of a reduced shear slenderness for continuous members compared to single-span members is not taken into account in current design concepts for semi-precast slabs [6][7][8][9] which usually have small and medium shear reinforcement ratios. The experimental investigations are an extension to the investigations of Hillebrand et al and Hegger and Wieneke, 5,25 where the fatigue behavior of small size tests and slab specimens was investigated. For the small size tests the welded nodes as a critical part of the lattice girder diagonal were cast in concrete cubes (Figure 3a).…”

“…The effectiveness of this work step was already demonstrated in the previous project. 5,25 For each prefabricated slab, the mean roughness depth R t was measured using the sand patch method according to Kaufmann, 28 which is the standard procedure for this case. Since this method is very userdependent and sometimes provides scattering results, an additional measurement was conducted using laser technology.…”

“…Accurate prediction of fatigue life of concrete structures remains an unsolved issue that increasingly attracts the attention of the research community [1][2][3][4]. Deeper understanding of concrete fatigue is urgently needed to address the ecological and sociological challenge of the next decade, namely the trade-off between the high carbon footprint associated with the concrete construction sector on the one hand, and a world-wide increasing demand for transportation and energy infrastructure made of concrete on the other hand.…”
