Investigations of diesel engine in the road test

Abstract: This article describes the details of the method designed to combustion engine with compression ignition (CI) during road tests. The method requires simultaneous measurements for the crankshaft rotation frequency, fuel pressure in the injector, pressure in the combustion chamber, air pressure and temperature in the intake system. More, this method utilizes possibilities of the GPS navigation -all the received data is being synchronized with navigation data and saved to the database. Fuel consumption was calcul… Show more

“…As a result of working out the presented methodological sequence, new original results had been obtained, containing a new concept to ensure the required power for an aircraft engine, using the supercharging as a decisive parameter and the maximum combustion pressure and energy costs for air compression. Tests results with the prototype engine HADI-100A [25] under normal atmospheric conditions (altitude above the sea level h = 0 m) showed: engine effective power Ne = 103 kW with excess air ratio λ(0) = 1.65 and pressurization ps= 273300 Pa.…”

“…They combine the advantages of different models to reduce computation time, increase accuracy and facilitate calibration. In diesel engines fuel consumption can be calculated using the method based on processing the pressure data from inside the cylinder [7]. Fuel consumption models can be implemented into microscopic traffic simulation software, which allows the evaluation of the environmental impact of transportation management strategies [22].…”

“…The phenomena accompanying the running-in period prevent the unequivocal identification of wear as well as technological and construction factors affecting its nature during operation. The tests of friction pairs under operating conditions were carried out in a 4DTNA1 [18] engine mounted in a light-duty truck (LDV). Wear products in oil result from the processes taking place in the following friction pairs -cylinder-piston system, crankshaft, camshaft, auxiliary mechanisms (Fig.…”
