Investigations for Histidine Degrading Enzymes in Bovine Adrenal Cortex and Medulla

Abstract

Two sensitive analytical methods were used to try to identify histidine degradation by enzyme preparations from bovine adrenal cortex and adrenal medullary tissues. No evidence was detectable by these means of the presence in these tissues of histidine ammonia-lyase, histidine utilising ʟ-amino acid oxidase, histidine decarboxylase or histidine aminotransferase.
