Investigation on the transformation behaviours of Fe-bearing minerals of coal in O2/CO2 combustion atmosphere containing H2O

Abstract: The ratio of Fe2+-glass to Fe3+-glass in ashes from O2/CO2 atmosphere is significantly increased. The iron oxides (hematite or magnetite) formation of included iron minerals may be delayed in O2/CO2. H2O promotes iron oxides formation.

“…The ash fusion temperature (AFT) of coal was determined according to the Chinese standard GB/T219‐2008. The influence of iron on the melting behavior of ash is related to the chemical state of iron determined by the atmosphere, especially for high‐iron coal ash [17,31,32] . Firstly, the fusion temperature of ZC iron‐rich coal ash was measured under weak reducing conditions.…”

“…The influence of iron on the melting behavior of ash is related to the chemical state of iron determined by the atmosphere, especially for high-iron coal ash. [17,31,32] Firstly, the fusion temperature of ZC iron-rich coal ash was measured under weak reducing conditions. The AFT of blended coal ash was tested in a weak reducing atmosphere using an automatic ash melting point analyzer (5E-AF 3000, Changsha, China).…”

“…The influence of iron on ash melting behavior is closely tied to the chemical state of iron, particularly in high-iron coal ash. 20,26,27 Initially, the AFT of ZC iron-rich coal ash was measured under both air and weak reducing conditions. The AFT of blended coal ash was tested in a weak reducing atmosphere using an automatic ash melting point analyzer (5E-AF 3000, Changsha, China).…”

“…17 Fayalite, iron spinel, almandine garnet, clinopyroxene, and other ironcontaining minerals are the primary products formed under high-temperature conditions. [18][19][20][21] Wang et al 12,22 discovered that minerals such as pyroxene with low melting points, pyroxene rich in aluminum, and diopside are formed in iron-rich coal. These iron-containing pyroxenes can form low-temperature compounds at high temperatures, ultimately increasing the ash melting ratio of coal.…”

“…Em ambos os difratogramas, observam-se fases cristalinas, como o quartzo e a mulita, fases estas comumente encontradas em cinzas da combustão de carvão mineral [70]. Verificam-se também Backgrounds (halos), no intervalo entre 15° a 40° (2ϴ), característicos de fases amorfas, presença de matéria orgânica, carbono residual e fases vítreas de aluminossilicatos [49,71].…”
