Investigation on the Stall Inception Circumferential Position and Stall Process Behavior in a Centrifugal Compressor With Volute

Abstract: The present paper numerically and experimentally investigates the stall inception mechanisms in a centrifugal compressor with volute. According to studies of the internal flow field at near stall condition in the compressor [24], the static pressure peak region (PP) and the static pressure bulge region (PB) at the diffuser outlet will occur near the volute tongue, locating at almost the opposite circumferential positions.
