“…On the addition of LBA particles, density decreased at first, and in hybrid composites, there was an increase in density with the addition of B 4 C particles. This trend is attributed to the higher density of B 4 C (2.52 g cm −3 ) compared to the LBA (1.61 g/cm 3 ). The porosity percentage of hybrid composite B4 is maximum compared to the other composites, as seen in figure 4(b).…”

“…Metal matrix composites offer better corrosion resistance, improved wear resistance, lower density, higher specific strength and stiffness, and high elastic modulus [1]. MMCs comprise of ductile and tough matrix alloy being incorporated with metallic, nonmetallic, or organic reinforcements leading to high compressive and shear strength and ability to be utilized at elevated temperatures [2,3]. In recent years, zinc-aluminium (ZA) based alloys are utilized as a metal matrix for the fabrication of composites because of their low casting temperature and cost.…”

“…Khare et al had prepared hybrid metal matrix composites made up of AA7075 base metal and reinforcement particles such as Al 2 O 3 and B 4 C ceramic particles. The addition of the reinforcement particles resulted in improvement in the mechanical properties of the AA7075 composites [17].…”

“…Khare et al [32] studied the wear characteristics of Al7075-Al 2 O 3 -B 4 C at different load and sliding conditions. They reported that the increase in reinforcement concentration results in high wear resistance at considered parametric condition. Khare et al [33] analyzed the mechanical behaviour of Al composites with different weight % of reinforcement materials and reported that the hardness and flexural strength of composites were improved when increasing the percentage of reinforcement concentration. They observed the uniform distribution of reinforcements for considered weight % of reinforcements.Davis et al [34] fabricated the HMMC composite ( Al6063%-5% SiC / 2.5% Gr / 2.5% Al 2 O 3 ) using stir casting method and analyzed the machining characteristics of composite using powder mixed electrical discharge drilling technique at various machining condition.…”
