Investigation of wideband Wilkinson power divider using multi-section approach

Abstract: This paper investigates the performance of two Wilkinson power dividers over a wide band frequencies range from 1 to 13 GHz. The first power divider is designed and developed using single section method while the second power divider is designed using double section method. The main purpose of this study is to determine how much bandwidth improvement can be achieved using double section compared to single section approach. Both designs are investigated using CST Microwave Studio simulation tool. The designs ar… Show more

“…Additionally, a TL with impedance Z in was placed at the input of the diplexer to provide further matching. Furthermore, 50 Ω TLs with electrical lengths θ OL = 10° and θ OH = 30° needed to be added at the outputs of the diplexer so that the overall phase difference between the diplexer outputs ΔΦ = ∠S 21 -∠S 31 is minimized as it will be explained in subsection D. Lastly, the 3-dB power divider was designed and implemented with a wideband 2section Wilkinson power divider configuration as for example the ones in [31], [32].…”

“…The main way to enhance the bandwidth is the multistage technology. In [14]- [16], the multistage Wilkinson power dividers realized 38.8%, 68.6% and 146% 15-dB operating bandwidth, respectively. In [17], a multistage twoway Gysel power divider using resistors connected with other ports was reported with 66.7% 15-dB operating bandwidth.…”
