Investigation of the Relationship Between Marriage Adjustment, Communication Skills and Social Media Usage Levels of Married Individuals

Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to reveal the relationship between marital adjustment, communication skills and social media usage levels of married individuals. The number of participants are 534 people (443 women, 91 men). Research data were collected online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. While collecting the data, "Personal Information Form", "Marriage Adjustment Scale", "Communication Skills Scale Adult Form" and "Social Media Addiction Scale Adult Form" were used. In the analysis of the data; frequency analysis, descriptive statistics methods and "Pearson Correlation Analysis" were used. All statistical analyzes were performed in the SPSS (25.00) program, and the interpretation of the results was based on the 0.05 significance level. As a result of the analysis, married individuals; A statistically significant correlation was found between marital adjustment and interpersonal communication skills at a positive low level, between marital adjustment and social media use at a negative low level, and between social media use level and interpersonal communication skills at a negative low level.By making use of the results obtained, psychoeducational programs that support marital adjustment and communication skills for married individuals and raise awareness of married individuals about the use of social media can be organized.
