Investigation of the relationship between depth of overhang and amount of daylight indicators in office buildings of Kerman city

Abstract: Background: The use of daylight in offices has become an effective strategy to improve the quality of indoor space and energy efficiency. There is enough potential to have daylight autonomy in Kerman as a city with more than 300 sunny days a year. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between facades configuration and the amount of daylight in office buildings of Kerman. Methods: This study was carried out based on the simulation in DesignBuilder software (DBS). In this study, 36 typical … Show more

Architectural design methods are constantly changing and architects have always sought to introduce design techniques based on information technology, advanced materials and also environmentally friendly, which causes a change in the design process of architects from emphasizing form to function.…”

“…The trajectory of the shadow on the window is shown in Figure 5 on 21st January before noon (blue lines) and at 12:00 noon (dashed lines). A plate may be considered as composed of an infinite number of poles; therefore Equations (3)- (8) are applied to obtain the shadow trajectory on the window. At 08:00 the shadow takes the form of a parallelogram (blue) and at noon time the shadow is rectangular (yellow).…”
