Investigation of the Effect of Dispersion Medium Parameters on the Aggregative Stability of Selenium Nanoparticles Stabilized with Catamine AB

Abstract: This article presents the results of the synthesis of Se NPs stabilized by a quaternary ammonium compound—catamine AB. Se NPs were obtained by chemical reduction in an aqueous medium. In the first stage of this study, the method of synthesis of Se NPs was optimized by a multifactorial experiment. The radius of the obtained samples was studied by dynamic light scattering, and the electrokinetic potential was studied using acoustic and electroacoustic spectrometry. Subsequently, the samples were studied by trans… Show more

“…According to previous studies, the effect of the selenium: polysaccharide mass ratio was determined by the saturation region of the adsorption capacity, which affects the formation process and morphological characteristics of nanostructures [29], [32]. According to UV spectroscopy, viscometry and pHmetre, this region corresponds to a range of mass ratios (v) from 0.02 to 0.08 [33]. In this work, a selenium nanocomposite with a mass ratio of v = 0.04 was used, a selenium nanocomposite with a mass ratio of v = 0.04 was used The X-ray diffraction pattern showed the presence of peaks characteristic of polycrystalline selenium [34].…”

“…It was found that at pH 10, a large loss of aggregation stability of the positive Se NP sol was observed, which is confirmed by the decrease in ζ-potential at these pH values. At 5 < pH < 8, an increase in particle size of the positive Se NP sol was again observed, probably because the isoelectric point of CTAC was reached [57]. For negative Se NPs sols, increasing pH does not affect aggregate stability, indicating high stability across the studied range [62,63].…”

“…Quantum chemical computer modeling results show that the total energy of the CTAC molecule is −803.904 kcal/mol, and the energy of the Se-CTAC molecular complex is −12,795.691 kcal/mol. A decrease in the total energy of the system indicates the energetic advantage of chemical bond formation between Se and CTAC [57].…”
