“…The auto-correlation functions of the proton groups in the two react, ions were calculated at eight angles between 20' and 160' in steps of 20' by using aspecial FORTRAN program [4]. These auto-correlation functions R(8) were normalized to the corresponding value of R (0) and averaged over the eight angles. The mean normalized auto-correlation functions for some of the proton groups are shown on the left hand side offig.…”

“…The knowledge of the non-Rutherford nat Mg(d,d 0 ) reaction cross section is important for the simultaneous analysis of d-NRA and EBS spectra at backward detection angles. It should be noted here, that there is a certain lack of deuteron elastic scattering experimental data suitable for EBS analysis, with the only exceptions being the 24 Mg(d,d 0 ) data from Omar et al (h lab ¼ 135 ) [3], and the recently published nat Mg(d,d 0 ) data from Paneta et al [2]. Unfortunately, the data presented in [3] are given in arbitrary units, thus their applicability is doubtful.…”

Unfortunately, the data presented in [3] are given in arbitrary units, thus their applicability is doubtful. The data presented in [2], on the other hand, were measured with a relatively large energy step, since the experiment was tuned for the study of the 24 Mg(d,p x ) reaction channels, thus any possible effect of the resonant mechanism in the elastic differential cross sections was not adequately investigated.…”
