Investigation of the Chemical Changes from Crude and Processed Paeoniae Radix Alba‐Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma Herbal Pair Extracts by Using Q Exactive High‐Performance Benchtop Quadrupole‐Orbitrap LC‐MS/MS

Abstract: The Paeoniae Radix Alba-Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma herbal pair is mainly used for regulating the functions of liver and spleen, benefiting qi, and nourishing blood. However, the bioactive compounds for the pharmacological activities of the crude and processed Paeoniae Radix Alba-Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma herbal pair extracts are still unclear to date. In the present study, Q Exactive high-performance benchtop quadrupole-Orbitrap LC-MS/MS was applied to identify the complicated components from … Show more

“…Peak 10, at m / z 479, was identified as paeoniflorin because it showed fragments at m / z 449, 327, 165 and 125. This fragmentation pattern was consistent with that of a standard compound, as well as reports in previous studies [9,10]. Peaks 24 and 31 also showed similar fragments and were proposed to be paeoniflorin isomers.…”

“…Cao et al . () identified two isomers of protocatechuic acid in crude Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma using a tandem mass spectrometry. Therefore, The peaks (1–7) were assigned as gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, 4‐hydroxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, syringic acid, p ‐coumaric acid and ferulic acid.…”

“…It has been used for a comprehensive profiling of polyphenols in five Brassicas (mizuna, red cabbage, purple kohlrabi, red mustard and purple mustard) at their microgreen growth stage [ 27 ]. Besides, the analyser has also been used in the metabolomic study of plants such as barley [ 28 ], chili pepper [ 29 ] and traditional Chinese medicine [ 30 ]. The Orbitrap is a useful and reliable tool for non-targeted plant metabolomic study and is becoming a mainstream instrument in LC-MS-based metabolomics [ 31 ].…”
