Investigation of the association between metabolic syndrome and breast cancer patients

Abstract: One of the most serious cancers among women is breast cancer. This disease is the first reason for the death of women due to cancer. Increasing breast cancer risk may associate with many factors including genetic, reproductive factors, people's lifestyle, metabolic syndrome (MS) and hormones. MS has been known as a risk factor for prostate, pancreatic, breast and colorectal cancers. The purpose of this review is to identify the relationship between MS components and breast cancer individually. This study was p… Show more

“…Autophagy seems to be a tumor suppressor in carcinogenesis. This is most likely due to a decrease in molecules required for cellular metabolism and proliferation, which finally leads to cell death activation (Eskandari et al, 2020). As a result, a malfunction or loss of several genes involved in the autophagy pathway is linked to carcinogenesis and tumor development (Kardideh et al, 2019; Lin et al, 2017).…”

“…It covers laboratory tests and anthropometric measurements. MetS was used to stand for metabolic disorders in most clinical studies [28][29][30][31], due to MetS' representativeness, practicability and centrality. Other factors of metabolic disorders which are not included in MetS were rarely studied, but some of these plain indices may be good outcome predictors for CRC.…”

“…[ 16 17 18 19 20 ] The diagnostic criterion for this disorder is high serum concentration (5.06 mIU/L ≥ TSH) with normal serum FT4 level (0.95 to 1.60 ng/d in men and 0.89 to 1.50 ng/d in women). [ 2 21 22 23 ] Subclinical hypothyroidism is associated with a vascular endothelial dysfunction, which may lead to neuropathy due to poor function of small blood vessels.…”
