“…The result shows that the TOF of Ni 2 P-Al 2 O 3 (H)71 (805) was roughly 3 and 8 times greater than those of Ni 2 P-Al 2 O 3 (I)71 (286) and Ni 2 P-Al 2 O 3 (C)71 (100), respectively. Compared to previous reports on guaiacol hydrodeoxygenation (Table S3), Ni 2 P-Al 2 O 3 (H)71 exhibited a higher TOF than Re/SiO 2 , Ni/CNT, and NiFe/CNT catalysts at the lower reaction temperature. Moreover, the effects of a series of reaction conditions were explored (see Figures S3 and S4 in the Supporting Information for details), and 99.9% conversion of guaiacol and 94.5% yield of cyclohexane were obtained under optimized conditions: 250 °C, 5 MPa H 2 , 3 h, 2/5 of the catalyst/substrate mass ratio, and n -hexane as the solvent (Table , entry 5).…”

“…The amounts of Bronsted and Lewis acid sites are calculated based on their integral areas and are listed in Table 3. The results showed that Lewis acid is the main S3), Ni 2 P-Al 2 O 3 (H)71 exhibited a higher TOF than Re/SiO 2 , 51 Ni/CNT, 52 and NiFe/CNT 52 catalysts at the lower reaction temperature. “…The hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol has more recently been performed by Jeong et al. over catalysts with rhenium as the sole active metal, on various supports, achieving up to 92 % yield of cyclohexane over Re/TiO 2 at 280 °C, under 20 bar of H 2 , in 3 hours [64] …”

“…25 Our previous studies on Re/SiO 2 also indicated that the Re precursor, NH 4 ReO 4 , easily grew into large crystallites. 26 For Ni/SiO 2 , the peaks related to nickel oxide (JCPDS No. 78-0643) are observed at 2θ = 37.5 and 44.3 without any Ni peaks present, indicating that nickel oxide was not fully reduced under the applied reduction temperature of 623 K. Upon the addition of Re to Ni/SiO 2 , the peaks corresponding to the Ni and Re species decrease in intensity and broaden with an increase in the Re content.…”

“…This could be because the catalyst samples were exposed to air before XPS measurements. For Re 4f level, both Re/SiO 2 and NiRe/SiO 2 catalysts showed the peaks related to Re 4+ , Re 6+ , and Re 7+ 26,30. Similar to nickel, the surface of rhenium was fully in oxidized state.…”
